If you are interested in applying for a Team Manager or Assistant coach position with any age group please print off, complete and bring the attached form when you register. In the Spring of '05 we enjoyed a total of 90+ teams between the slow and fast pitch programs and West Cobb Girls Softball continues to grow each year. Whether you have coached with WCGS before, you've coached at another softball/baseball park or if this will be your first experience coaching we encourage you to apply. All applicants must be approved by the WCGS Board of Directors, agree to a background check and attend any mandatory coaches training or certification meetings. Any parent who paid cash for their concession deposit at the time of registration and is due a refund will receive a WCGS check in the mail no later than the end of May of the current Spring season. 3. Do You Want to be a Score Keeper for Spring? |
WCGS will be using score keepers for the 2007 Spring season. Score keepers must be at least 14 years old. Experience is not necessary, however, a knowledge of the game is very helpful. A mandatory clinic will be conducted a few weeks before the season (late February) in which new score keepers will be trained. Returning score keepers do not have to attend the clinic - but you must let us know you will be returning for the 2007 season. Score keepers are paid $7 a game, in cash, on the day they work- $7 for one game, $15 for two, $22 for three, $30 for four, and $37 for five. Scheduling is done a week in advance and is very flexible to accommodate player's game schedules, school commitments and extra activities. If you are interested in keeping score in the 2007 Spring Season or you have any questions, send an e-mail to the goldbergjm@comcast.net which must include your first/last name, complete address-including zip code, 10 digit phone number, a valid e-mail address and indicate whether you are a "New" or "Returning" score keeper. We'll get in touch with you as the season nears. *Paid score keepers are not used during the Fall seasons.* |

WCGS - Community Service Program |
In order to provide members of West Cobb Girls Softball the opportunity to contribute to the community by volunteering time and effort to assist the younger participants of WCGS. The individual would be assisting the Manager of the team in conveying the general principles of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, the Skills of Softball and providing an enjoyable learning experience for our participants. Participation in this program would allow the individual to earn community service hours as required by many high school and college programs today. Due to the varying number of teams, a set number of girls can not be determined until the registration is finalized and the number of teams are confirmed for the age groups (Sugar & Spice and 8 & Under) that are participating. We encourage all girls interested to submit an application. In order to be considered for the WCGS Community Service Program the following criteria must be submitted during registration. The applicant must:
1. a. if Spring - participated in the past 2 consecutive Spring
seasons and be The approval committee will take all of the information above and consider to the best of its ability which applicants will be awarded the opportunity to participate in the program. Upon completion of the season the manager will submit the attendance card of the volunteer for approval and issuance of a certificate of merit for community service signed by the president of WCGS and a Cobb County Parks representative stating the hours served to our community at WCGS. If you have any questions in regards to this program please contact: Jon Helton |
