       West Cobb Travel Teams News!

WCGS is in its fourth year of offering a Fast Pitch softball recreational program.
Last year we had over 150 young ladies participate in 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u teams.
The growth of the West Cobb Fast Pitch program has allowed us to join the
North Georgia Fast Pitch League (NGFA). WCGS teams in the 10u age divisions and up will not
only play each other at Lost Mountain Park, but will play Fast Pitch recreational teams
from other local parks as well. Our 8u teams will play in a league with teams from Kennworth Park.
All away games for all age groups will be played on Saturdays.

Changes to the Fast Pitch Program --

We received some great input from our coaches and families over the off-season on how to improve
our program, and we feel that the changes outlined below will help us grow and continue to mature.

WCGS is in its third year of offering a fast pitch softball recreational program. Last year we had over 150
young ladies participate on 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u teams.

The growth of the West Cobb Fast Pitch program, and the growth of fast pitch softball in general,
has allowed us to make the following changes to the program:

Our program has grown to the point that we feel we are ready to join the North Georgia Fast Pitch League.
Until now, we were the only major program in Cobb County that did not play in this league.

WCGS teams in the 10u age divisions and up will not only play each other at Lost Mountain Park ,
but will play fast pitch recreational teams from other local parks both at Lost Mountain and at away.
This differs from what we did in our first two years, which was to arrange games with other parks
on an ad hoc basis. Although this allowed us to vary opponents, the schedule was difficult to manage
to say the least. The schedule for North Georgia League games will be set in early September, and
once the schedule is set we will not be altering it (unless rescheduling is necessitated because of weather).
In addition, all parks play by the same rules and use the same umpires.

Games begin September 8, and run through the end of October. The season concludes with
    a League Tournament.

We plan to have our 8u teams play in an inter park league with Kennworth Park teams only.

All away games for all age groups will be on Saturdays, and the majority of our games will still
be played at Lost Mountain Park .

There is no additional cost associated with playing in the North Georgia Fast Pitch League.
Fee structures are currently being worked out by the WCGS Treasurer, but they will not be as
much as last fall because we will not be offering instructional clinics as we have in the past.

Thanks again for your support for fast pitch at West Cobb. It’s been rough at times, but I think we
are really gaining traction and are turning the corner. We hope you’ll sign up for what will be an
exciting fall season. Your input has been, and will remain key, to our program’s growth and success.
