WCGS All Star Nomination

At the completion of the Spring Recreational season WCGS annually provides an opportunity for selected girls to participate in All Star teams who illustrate the aptitude and desire for a more competitive level of play.  Each WCGS age division will be selecting players to fill one and possibly two All Star teams to represent our park.  All Star play provides girls an opportunity of a much higher level of competition, an opportunity to create many more friendships while also having a great deal of fun and many positive memories.

Your team manager nominated your daughter for All Star team consideration.  She will have the opportunity to participate in a mandatory “audition” in front of the selected All Star Team manager, the League Director and a representation of league team managers who will all have a voting interest in the selection of the team(s). 

All parent approved nominated players must attend a one day “audition” where their fielding, hitting, throwing, running and batting skills will be showcased in front of the voting community noted above.  The “audition” will be up to 3 hours and will be at the Lost Mountain Park fields.  The “Blue” and, if necessary, “Gray” All Star teams will be filled with those girls receiving the most votes.  Not all nominated girls are guaranteed a team spot.  Only those participants selected to one/both teams will be notified of their status by either the league director or the All Star Team manager(s) within 72 hours after the regular season is complete. 

The following is a general overview of the All Star program and its player requirements:

·          The official season starts May 18.  The Manager will determine the end of the season based on the tournament schedule to be played.

·          A minimum of 5 days per week will be dedicated to practices and/or tournament play.  Excess unexcused missed practices may result in dismissal from the team and is at manager’s discretion.

·          All players are expected to attend all practices and tournament play (players are allowed to miss no more than 1 tournament per month (2 maximum) and this does not apply to National/World tournaments.)

·          Some tournaments may require out of town/overnight travel.

·          All Star teams will pay for most of their expenses through parent and/or sponsor contribution

·          Managers will play each girl in the position that best benefits the team.

·          A player participation rule or minimum playing time is not in effect and is solely at the discretion of each team manager.

·          Dropping from the roster (other than due to injury) after initial commitment may result in future restriction to All Star/Travel team participation.
