Remainder of the Spring 2020 Season Cancelled

Dear WCGS Families,
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you all that the decision has been made to cancel the remainder of the spring 2020 season and send a prorated refund to all registrants. At the heart of the decision was the desire to be proactive and get the money back in the hands of our families as we know for many financial difficulties have set in and will continue to build the longer this goes on.

The amount of the refund will be your registration, county usage fee and concession buyout fee (if any) less $15 per player for expenses incurred. All concession stand deposit checks will be destroyed. We will start processing the refunds this weekend and as you can imagine will be a time consuming task with 500 players. In addition the refunds have to go back through our merchant vendor so it could be 7-14 days before you see the money hit your account. For the time being we are going to hold money for pitching and catching lessons in hopes that maybe we can get the remaining sessions in.
We held out hope that we might salvage some part of our season but with so much uncertainty and stress about the future we felt it best to make the call at this time. This unprecedented response calls for some unprecedented decisions. Ultimately, there is probably no completely right decision here but at the end of the day all we can hope for is to try and do the best we can for our families.
Ironically, my son and his band wrote and recorded a song about 3 months ago about being "all together".  This song has become somewhat of an anthem for my family and I as we spend this time together. While we all want our normal back, the time we have spent being together is time we will ultimately remember fondly and cherish forever, especially for those of us with older kids and teens who are transitioning into young adulthood. For me, putting this time into the correct perspective makes it seem heaven sent as opposed to a restriction or punishment. I'm sure the teens don't see it that way, haha!
My hope for you all is that you can find the perspective that will allow you to cherish this time with your family and model for them the joy of being together as a family! As Charles Dickens wrote in the 1800's "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times", I pray you can find the "best" that is hidden in these times.
God bless and I can't wait to see y'all in the dirt!
Stay safe my friends.

Spring Season Weather Notice

It might rain! Is my player and her team practicing or playing?

Every season at WCGS, we have to deal with inclement weather. Rain and even snow can force either Cobb County or WCGS to close the fields at Lost Mountain Park. Georgia weather can be very unpredictable, no matter what The Weather Channel says!

Rule of thumb: If you do not get a message from your coach or from WCGS, your player's practice or game is ON! In other words, if you don't hear anything, plan on heading to the park.

Softball is an outdoor sport. However we try to avoid it, on occasion you may get a message from your coach or the league notifying you that the fields have been closed while you're headed to the park - At the last minute. While the league and Cobb County try to give as much advance notice as possible, sometimes that notice is last minute. Be prepared!

In most cases, practices or games that get rained out or cancelled due to field conditions will be rescheduled. It is a good idea to enable text messaging in your account, and to subscribe to your team's schedule calendar on your mobile phone.
